What is VAPS?

The Virginia Agency Property System, or VAPS, is a database for maintaining insurance values for state-owned buildings and their contents. Non-owned buildings occupied by state agencies are also included. VAPS is designed to allow agencies and institutions to modify their own property and location values as well as other property information. It is a secure, menu-driven Internet application that can be accessed from any Microsoft Windows computer that has an Internet connection and an Internet browser.

How do I register?

1. Complete the online registration form (see link at the end of these instructions).
2. Once registration is completed and submitted properly, a confirmation message will be sent to you via e-mail.
3. Registration information will be reviewed with your agency or institution to validate your authorization to access VAPS.
4. You will be notified of the validation result and, if appropriate, be advised when the VAPS database can be accessed by you.
